A Little About

Do you remember it? The muffled sound of jingle bells in the cardboard box as your mom lifted the boxes of Christmas decorations out of the closet? Growing up, my mom had boxes full of decorations labeled for each season. I still remember the excitement, brushing the dust off the top, the wonderful scents and scenes as we carefully unpacked each box. It was a tradition I carried on to my family.

Then life got busy. The boxes stayed on the shelf except for the Christmas ornaments. And by default, the memories stayed packed away too. Until one warm March day in 2020 during the pandemic lockdown when my daughter, Tess, and I decided our world could use a little cheering up and the best place was to start was with our neighborhood. So out came the boxes. Soon it looked as though Easter had exploded onto our porch and front yard. Neighbor after neighbor stopped on their walks and bike rides to comment and thank us for adding some cheer. So we just kept on decorating. Summer grew into fall and Christmas and spring. We fell in love with decorating for our friends and families and making new friends when they contacted us for décor.

We found that at the top of every person’s list was a wreath for their front door. It was there that Susie & Tess was born. We always keep a few wreaths on hand, but custom orders are our specialty. As a certified meeting planner and full-time meeting and event manager, I understand that décor, whether it be for a dinner party or five-star wedding is part of the puzzle that makes the story one to remember. We also know that a welcoming porch warms hearts and decorating for each season is more than something to check off our to-do list. It makes us keepers of the magic and memories that we will one day pass onto our children and grandchildren.
